What to look for
Signs of storm damage
Some of it is obvious. A lot of it isn't. If a storm came through, get it checked either way.

Often invisible from the ground
Wind
Missing, lifted or creased shingles, and exposed underlayment along ridges and edges.
Creased shingles fail later

FAQ
Storm & insurance questions
Does homeowners insurance cover roof damage?
It depends on your policy and the cause. Sudden storm damage from hail or wind is often covered. Normal wear and aging usually isn't. Your policy documents have the details.
Should I call my insurance company or a roofer first?
Getting a free inspection first tells you whether there's damage worth claiming, so you're not filing a claim for nothing.
How soon after a storm should I get my roof checked?
As soon as you can. Small damage can turn into leaks, and insurance policies often have time limits for reporting.
Can I get my roof checked if I don't see any damage?
Yes, and you should. Hail damage in particular is hard to spot from the ground. The inspection is free.
What if my claim is denied?
We'll go over our findings with you so you understand your options, including repair costs out of pocket.
